Our community is facing an enormous challenge.

According to a recent study conducted for State Farm by the Alliance for Excellent Education:

·         52% of high school students in our metropolitan area (Chatham, Effingham & Bryan Counties) do not graduate from high school on time with a regular diploma.   

·         Of the twelve area high schools, six are considered among the nation’s lowest performing high schools (i.e., schools where fewer than 60% of freshmen progress to their senior year on time).

·         An estimated 2,600 students dropped out from the Class of 2010 at great costs to themselves and to their communities.

Ø  If just 1,000 of these students from the 2010 Class had graduated, these 1,000 new graduates would likely earn $7.8 million in additional earnings in an average year.

Ø  Spend an additional $1 million each year purchasing vehicles.

Ø  Spend an additional $17 million on homes

Ø  Increase our gross regional product by up to $10 million.

Ø  And pour as much as $600,000 annually into state and local coffers through their increased spending and investments.

There are moments in every game when a play determines the outcome. These plays and those who make them are called Gamechangers. Sometimes they are made by individuals or by a whole team pulling together to turn a game around in one play. These Gamechangers always transform the entire momentum of the game.

While most of our community sits along the sideline with their heads in their hands, The Coastal Fellowship of Christian Athletes is giving you the opportunity to make a Gamechanging play in our community. We are developing and equipping an urban ministry team to enter the redzone and make Gamechanging plays throughout our area schools. Our message of hope, purpose, and passion thrives in the face of opposition. Our approach through sports and developing relationships is unrivaled. Our 57 year national success record reaching, inspiring, and equipping coaches and student athletes is unparalleled.

Will you get in the game? If no one changes, nothing changes. This Gamechanging play has huge implications on individual lives, families and our community as a whole. But it will take people like you getting off the bench and supporting our efforts. We cannot do this alone. But together, we can make a Gamechanging play.
