Our Staff
Ed Pulkinen is the Area Director for the Coastal Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes, serving middle school, high school, and college athletes and coaches in Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan Counties. Hired in 2005, Ed is the first full-time staff FCA staff person in Coastal Georgia. His wife Cathy serves part-time as the ministry's Administrative Assistant.

His father was a double Hall of Fame Athlete at Clemson and his brother, King, played soccer for the College of Charleston. Ed was the captain of the USC Ultimate Frisbee team, twice qualifying to play in the National Championships and in 1995 representing the US at the World Championship in England. Ed's greatest sports victory was when he met Cathy on the Ultimate field in Savannah. They along with their children, Eli, Jacob, and Sarah enjoy competing and continue to use their passion for disc sports to minister through FCA. Every spring break they host nearly 3000 Ultimate players from colleges all over the US, sharing the gospel in a unique forum. They live in Guyton, GA and attend Savannah Christian Church.

Our Vision
During the first 4 years of Coastal FCA, thousands of people have heard the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and hundreds have made the decision to trust Him with their eternal lives through the platform of athletics. Many of these decisions have been made as a result of FCA "Sports Specific" ministry, where athletes and coaches are encouraged as a team to grow with Christ, communicated through the passion of their particular sport.

While Sports Specific team ministry is more specialized, it is challenging for a small staff. When you multiply the number of campuses served by the number of teams on those campuses, Coastal Georgia has almost 500 campus teams, not to mention the many recreational, and club teams. Ed's vision is to train, equip, and resource an army of volunteers called Character Coaches to serve these teams. Recruiting, training, and organizing these individuals requires volunteers and partners who can serve through their time, their prayers, and their finances.
